New Villa, Northern Costa Blanca, Spain
Our clients had owned an old style holiday villa at this location for many years, and had enjoyed the sunny climate for long family holidays.
They bought two 1000m² plots with the villa, so a lot of land was available, but due to the building’s location only half was being used to good effect. They decided it was time to invest in a new, larger property, and we encouraged them to go modern, with large open plan living, dining and kitchen areas, with a massive covered terrace for outdoor dining and relaxing directly off these areas with views over a newly landscaped garden and outdoor pool. Although they love entertaining family and friends, they also love privacy, so the design included a master suite for themselves on the eastern side of the building, with a continuous east and south facing open terrace for private sunbathing at the upper level with sea views beyond the surrounding trees. Above the upper sun deck and between designed structural framework, we incorporated automatic brises solei to provide shade for those times when the sun gets too hot. The final design was developed with the husband and wife clients, and achieved all they desired in terms of a new modern villa which uses the total land area to best effect, enabling them to be able to enjoy the villa, pool and garden with stunning mountain views throughout the year.
To implement the design MGA collaborated with Vives Pons and Asociados, a multi-disciplinary practice of architects/builders, lawyers and accountants based in Denia, who dealt with the legal joining of the two plots as one, the submission of documents for the building licenses, and the building of the project, under the joint supervision of their technical architect and MGA.
